Bocephus King: "All Children Believe in Heaven"
Bocephus King Bio
Bocephus King's highly anticipated new album "All Children Believe in Heaven" was released Aug 10th through Tonic/Maple/Universal. "All Children Believe in Heaven", which has the feel of a James Cagney/Bogart film, pays homage to old Hollywood, giving it an unsterilized lyrical and atmospheric biopsy. It is Hollywood dirtied up, so to speak. If you're familiar with BK's work, you'll know that the characters in his songs are usually the lovelorn, jaded or felonious, with an accompanying collection of whores, pill poppers and drunkards. He looks at and interprets the golden age from this same angle
"The Blue Sickness", Bocephus King's previous album, received both national and international acclaim. Italy's glossy magazine "Buscadero" did a full page spread with Mr. B.K. on the cover, Mojo Magazine and Billboard featured the album, and a variety of Canadian articles accompanied the success. This was followed by the hugely successful video, "Eight and a Half", which reached number one on The Bravo Countdown. Four tours of Italy and The Netherlands, a showcase at SXSW, a couple of trips across Canada and two videos in high rotation on MuchMoreMusic, helped spread the word. A West Coast Music nomination as well as a Georgia Straight Award nomination finished it off nicely.

Having completed a successful tour of Western Canada, with a showcase spot at the WCMA's, Bocephus King is planning a Toronto escapade for the New Year. In the meantime check out the new video "Wreck of the Century" on MuchmMoreMusic. Or come and share some cheer at Bocephus King's First Annual Savage Christmas Spectacular, featuring some of the city's finest folks and a couple of jerks, scheduled for December 18th at the Media Club in Vancouver. Proceeds from this event will go to help the Empty Stocking Fund.
Bocephus King Press Reaction
The disc's bong-bombed vision of Americana is - in a delicious bit of irony - entirely too weird for Nashville. Mike Usinger - No Depression
BK, alias Jamie Perry, was the most interesting discoveries of last year. This most important new name came out of discovery in the underbrush of the American Indies.
Paolo Caru, Buscadero Magazine, Italy
Proud of his working class, blue-collar origins, Perry fills the lyrics of his songs with a barfly's-eye view of the world.
