Mess of Love

Low High

Trevor Cornish brilliantly directed this elegant little film of two buddies duping a room of nasty card sharks. Manager Kate Wattie's father Tony makes a cameo as a scissor-happy barber; off camera (and on at times) he "accidentally" stabbed B.K. in the head with the shears until the A.D. finally dis-armed him. The Chris Nelson (MuchMusic) interview that accompanied the video's premier had King observing "there are so many Starbuck's in Vancouver, in fact, the other day I heard they were opening up a Starbuck's, INSIDE another Starbuck's!" Watch the hero's (Stefano Giulianetti) shoe at the end of the video - then you'll get it.

Low High
Doug Thompson wrote and directed this video in the space of a week. It went to #1 on Bravo and did alot in general for Bocephus King. The Felinni-esque strange visions and tango dancers are the surreal icing on this haunting little piece. The video was shot in an old mental institute (really) and almost cost King an eye, when in a stupor of some sort, he fell into the make up station, splitting open his eyebrow and under eye (thus the large sunglasses). Paul Rigby chose Adam Sandler's "Lil' Nicky" hairstyle which is hard to see as editors had to keep clipping out his drunken bursts of laughter from the final print. A beautiful looking video, semi black and white, with ghosts of colour crossing the screen from time to time..it puts you in a strange place and holds you there for 4 minutes, 4 bizarre minutes.
